Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

I’ve been MIA lately.  I blame it on our dual-personalitied dog, and the random cold I had last week.

Anyways, the dog: (since he’s really the most exciting thing going on).  He is a) Barley: a super-mellow and friendly dog OR b) wild dog: a crazed, hyper dog who likes to nip at me.

Apparently, wild dog doesn’t understand the dominance hierarchy we’ve got in the house – he thinks Jason’s in charge and I’m just another dog.  (He has a LOT to learn).  So that’s super-neat, especially when I try to play fetch with him (he doesn’t know how to play, so I’m trying to teach him) and he jumps all over me.  That, and wild dog doesn’t really like it when I go to sleep – he barks and wakes me up and makes me take him out.  What about Jason?  Well, wild dog doesn’t dare wake Jason up, since Jason has asserted his dominance.

So it’s been an interesting couple of weeks.  And, I’m now carrying a water bottle around and squirting wild dog in the face when he jumps on me.  I’ve only done it twice and he freaked out both times, so I suspect it will be a great success.  That is, if it doesn’t scare the dog away permanently.

In other news:  We’ll be making a top-secret trip to Minneapolis in 2 weeks.  Turns out  a pharma company in the Twin Cities might want to hire Jason.  It’s a good opportunity for him, and even if I have to stay here through September (or 2008), we thought it would be wise to even explore the option.

I have missed you, Jen! I keep checking the blog and no new entries. I was in great fear that the crazy dog had devoured both of you. You let that beast know who the boss is!
I hope you’re feeling better. Take care!
