another year wiser?

Maybe. Here are some important lessons I learned when I was 26:

  1. If you think your hot water heater doesn’t work, you might want to check to make sure the pilot light is on before taking a week’s worth of cold showers.
  2. Nothing is ever as easy as it should be when you’re dealing with any of the administrative offices at UK.
  3. Home projects are never as easy as they initially seem.
  4. No matter how much you like the work you do, if the people you work with are miserable, there’s a good chance you’ll become unhappy, too.
  5. The Camry can hold a serious amount of stuff. And if a Lowe’s employee tries to tell you otherwise, its best to just prove him wrong. If Jason tries to tell you otherwise, though, you might want to listen to him or you will be hearing about the time you overloaded the car for a really long time.
  6. Dogs really do chase their tails.
  7. The hardest part of being engaged is quitting my fingernail biting.

Entry filed under: etc.

I was wrong about the squirrel hunter. note to self: you are no longer 21.

Happy belated birthday, Jen! I hope Jason got you a proper birthday present, but he probably just tried to pass the engagement ring off as one. Hope your birthday was more fun than Amy’s, whose day started with getting her screaming baby vaccinated and ended with taking that baby on an overnight flight from San Fran to Philly. Hopefully, Jason will never subject you to so much on your birthday, but you might want to include that in the pre-nup just in case.

    Also a belated birthday greeting.

I am amused that Kevin forgot to mention that he failed to get a proper birthday present, although I am told it is waiting at the house.

And, really, I’d take an engagement ring as a birthday present any day.

You may want to add to the list that 26 is the last year you actually get timely birthday presents from your family and 27 is when your mom tries to pass of a belated shopping trip (when she sees you next) as a proper gift; card to be presented at time of shopping trip!

Love ya but feel it’s better (and easier) if you select your own gift!
