Happy 1-month Anniversary, Hubby!

November 4, 2008

Dear Jason,

Holy cow. Can you believe that this was us a month ago?

Well, we’ve had one heck of a month, haven’t we? So far, so good… even if we did majorly screw up the whole actually-getting-married thing. But we’re past that, so let’s move on.

We had an awesome, and very very relaxing honeymoon in northern Wisconsin. I think we may have even described it as “boring” at times, but I’m glad that we didn’t try to go on a grand adventure. I’m glad that I was able to sleep for 3 days straight, even if you did take a million pictures of me sleeping, and even if I am drooling or have my mouth gaping open in 75% of those pictures. And I was especially glad that I got a chance to watch cable tv for hours on end for an entire week. But spending time with you without distractions for a whole week was seriously great. We should do that more often, because, in our real life, I get distracted and sometimes don’t pay attention to all of the hilarious things that you say.

In our post-wedding wind-down, we’ve had more time to spend with friends and family. It’s been great. We went to friend’s Thanksgiving hosted by Andrea and Molly, went to the pumpkin patch with Sanna, Jennifer, and Catherine, carved pumpkins with friends at Dan’s house, and had many other chances to talk and laugh with those around us.

Speaking of pumpkins, I have to admit (as much as I don’t want to) that you carved a better pumpkin than me once again this year. I even followed a template. That’s pretty embarrassing, but you were nice and only rubbed it in my face until I (fake) pouted. Then, you gave me a hug, laughed, and continue to poke fun until I laughed.

We also watched the Phillies play in the playoffs, and then the world series.  That meant many late nights of drinking for you, and internet surfing and sleeping for me.  Barley also slept, and then we both harassed him by doing ridiculous things like putting your hat on his head and snapping pictures.  See?  Not having cable is making us more creative.  So maybe it is a good thing that I am forcing us into an uber-stingy budget.  (Yet, I can’t wait for the day when we’re ready to splurge on the hundred channel/DVR package).

When the Phillies won the world series, you were so happy.  Really, I didn’t even know that you liked baseball until mid-October, but there you were, cheering and yelling, smiling and drinking beer like you haven’t done since our wedding.

Things don’t feel much different now than before we were married, and I suspect that’s because we’ve known for so long that we would get married.  I am still surprised to see a ring on your finger, and I remember that when we first started dating, you told me that whenever you dated anyone, you’d develop a rash on your ring finger.  You were puzzled that you never developed that rash when we started dating, and I think we both suspected that it was because we were perfect for each other.  Other than the rings on our fingers, and the legitimate ability to put you on a budget, things have not been much different.  And for that, I am grateful.

We’ve started talking about our house again, and have recently begun work on what will be our office.  I am excited to fix the place up, to make it ours, but peeling wallpaper is not my favorite.  It’s not your favorite either, as last weekend you chose to scoop Barley’s crap up from the backyard rather than peel the wallpaper.  Hopefully, we’ll be able to get rid of the wallpaper quickly, or at least bribe one of the relatives to do it.

I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for us during our second month of marriage!

Love,

Jen

Somebody wallpapered the ceiling? What a job! It’s bad enough to take paper off the wall, but the ceiling! I’d rather go to the Dentist.
