New Marriage, New Blog
I haven’t been blogging much lately… either on this blog or on our wedding update blog (although, I am currently waiting for Barley to finish the recap of his skating party before I finish my recaps).
It’s because I’ve had something secret in the works: a new blog.
I think it’s time for a change. So, I won’t be posting here anymore. You can find me (and sometimes Jason!) over at homeinthecities.wordpress.com.
The focus will be house-related, since that’s what we’ve got on our minds lately, but I’ll be sure to report on other things as they (or if they) occur.
See you there!

Happy 1-month Anniversary, Hubby!
Dear Jason,
Holy cow. Can you believe that this was us a month ago?
Well, we’ve had one heck of a month, haven’t we? So far, so good… even if we did majorly screw up the whole actually-getting-married thing. But we’re past that, so let’s move on.
We had an awesome, and very very relaxing honeymoon in northern Wisconsin. I think we may have even described it as “boring” at times, but I’m glad that we didn’t try to go on a grand adventure. I’m glad that I was able to sleep for 3 days straight, even if you did take a million pictures of me sleeping, and even if I am drooling or have my mouth gaping open in 75% of those pictures. And I was especially glad that I got a chance to watch cable tv for hours on end for an entire week. But spending time with you without distractions for a whole week was seriously great. We should do that more often, because, in our real life, I get distracted and sometimes don’t pay attention to all of the hilarious things that you say.
In our post-wedding wind-down, we’ve had more time to spend with friends and family. It’s been great. We went to friend’s Thanksgiving hosted by Andrea and Molly, went to the pumpkin patch with Sanna, Jennifer, and Catherine, carved pumpkins with friends at Dan’s house, and had many other chances to talk and laugh with those around us.
Speaking of pumpkins, I have to admit (as much as I don’t want to) that you carved a better pumpkin than me once again this year. I even followed a template. That’s pretty embarrassing, but you were nice and only rubbed it in my face until I (fake) pouted. Then, you gave me a hug, laughed, and continue to poke fun until I laughed.
We also watched the Phillies play in the playoffs, and then the world series. That meant many late nights of drinking for you, and internet surfing and sleeping for me. Barley also slept, and then we both harassed him by doing ridiculous things like putting your hat on his head and snapping pictures. See? Not having cable is making us more creative. So maybe it is a good thing that I am forcing us into an uber-stingy budget. (Yet, I can’t wait for the day when we’re ready to splurge on the hundred channel/DVR package).
When the Phillies won the world series, you were so happy. Really, I didn’t even know that you liked baseball until mid-October, but there you were, cheering and yelling, smiling and drinking beer like you haven’t done since our wedding.
Things don’t feel much different now than before we were married, and I suspect that’s because we’ve known for so long that we would get married. I am still surprised to see a ring on your finger, and I remember that when we first started dating, you told me that whenever you dated anyone, you’d develop a rash on your ring finger. You were puzzled that you never developed that rash when we started dating, and I think we both suspected that it was because we were perfect for each other. Other than the rings on our fingers, and the legitimate ability to put you on a budget, things have not been much different. And for that, I am grateful.
We’ve started talking about our house again, and have recently begun work on what will be our office. I am excited to fix the place up, to make it ours, but peeling wallpaper is not my favorite. It’s not your favorite either, as last weekend you chose to scoop Barley’s crap up from the backyard rather than peel the wallpaper. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get rid of the wallpaper quickly, or at least bribe one of the relatives to do it.
I can’t wait to see what adventures are in store for us during our second month of marriage!
Love,
Jen

Happy Birthday, Ashley!
It’s my baby sister’s birthday today. Hope it’s a good one, Ash! (just for fun, an old pic of us on the beach)

a good sign
I was in Boston for a conference in August. I came home from the conference, unpacked my stuff, moved the suitcase to my closet.
4 weeks ago, I looked through the closet and realized that I was missing two dresses. One of which was the only dress I ever paid full price for. Yep, it was awesome enough for this always-looking-for-a-sale girl to buy even though it was not on sale. That should say something about how awesome it was.
I was super-bummed.
I called the hotel and left messages on random answering machines. Then, things got busy for a few weeks. I called last week and was sent (by the hotel operator) to random numbers where I left messages again. Desperate messages.
So when I actually reached a real live person today, and that real live person told me that they’d call me back, I seriously doubted it.
And then, at 8pm tonight, I got the most amazing phone call – THEY HAVE MY DRESSES AND THEY’RE GOING TO SEND THEM BACK TO ME! The woman on the other end of the phone laughed about how excited I was to hear the good news. So, even if she insisted on spelling Minneapolis Minneooiss (seriously, I could not get her to spell it right), I will likely get my dress back! YES!
After I realized I had forgotten the dresses, I decided it was a sign that things in my life were too busy and chaotic. So I’m going to take this as a sign that things are back on track. Woohoo!

wedding recaps!
Just thought I’d post a note here to let you know that I’m posting wedding recaps over at our wedding website, so go take a look! We’ll even be posting our favorite pictures from the photobooth!!
Also, if you were at the wedding and took pictures, don’t forget to head over to jasonandjen.seeyouthen.com and upload your pictures. I’m having so much fun looking through all of them! Keep them coming!
So… posting here will be light, if at all in the upcoming days/weeks since digging through wedding photos and reliving wedding memories will be taking up much of my free time…
